Cytokines 2021 Conference comes to Cardiff
Cardiff City Hall welcomes the return of conferences following the devastating pandemic in different formats.
As Cardiff welcomes back business events as Covid-19 restrictions ease, many events are currently coming back in different formats. UK-based conferences are beginning to return in the traditional face-to-face format but others particularly those with international delegates are choosing hybrid formats.
A major international medical conference is such an example and is to go ahead at Cardiff City Hall 17-20 October 2021 in a hybrid format. The International Cytokine & Interferon Society (ICIS) is the worldâs largest multidisciplinary organisation advancing both fundamental and clinical research specific to the role of cytokines in health and disease.
Conference Chair Professor Simon Jones, Division of Infection & Immunity, The School of Medicine at Cardiff University explained; âIt is an important time for the biomedical research community to come together to discuss the latest breakthroughs and insights. The meeting will provide an outstanding forum for investigators in basic science and clinical research to present their most recent findings on the role of cytokines in infection, cancer, allergy and immune-mediated inflammatory diseasesâ.
âThe conference is also being held at a particularly relevant timeâ Professor Simon Jones adds; âMany of our colleagues were highly instrumental in developing some of the drugs used in the treatment of COVID-19, others have helped on the public view of the pandemic, such as Local Organising Committee members, Professor Luke O’Neill from Trinity College Dublin and Professor Iain McInnes from Glasgow Universityâ.
The conference is designed in a hybrid format, a flexible and innovative response to the pandemic. The conference will be hosted through a studio established in Cardiff City Hall, and will be attended by delegates globally using a virtual meeting platform.
The Meet Cardiff team, who provide a free impartial service to conference organisers, have been working on this conference with the organiser for three years. Team Manager Faye Tanner said âWe are thrilled that this prestigious conference will be going ahead this October 2021 as planned, as venues and hotels in the city open up to accommodate business events following pandemic restrictionsâ.
