CLIC 2025: Cardiff welcomes the Consortium of Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships

Tuesday, 11 November 2025

Cardiff proudly hosted the CLIC 2025 Conference, welcoming 150 international delegates to the city for the first-ever European edition of this prestigious global meeting. Delegates travelled from across the world, representing countries including the USA, Canada, Norway, Australia, Germany, France, several African nations as well as delegates from the global south.

The Consortium of Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships (CLIC) is the leading annual event for medical educators, researchers and practitioners involved in longitudinal integrated clerkships (LICs) — an approach to clinical education that allows medical students and doctors in training to participate in patient care and training in specialty disciplines over extended periods of time, fostering continuity in learning and patient relationships.

The 2025 conference was delivered through a collaborative partnership between Cardiff University, Swansea University and Bangor University, showcasing the strength and innovation of medical education across Wales. The programme was hosted across several of Cardiff’s unique venues: the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, the Centre for Student Life at Cardiff University, and The Exchange Hotel.

Organiser and Cardiff Conference Ambassador, Professor Katie Webb said “Hosting CLIC 2025 through the tri-University partnership in Cardiff has been a milestone for the Consortium and a wonderful opportunity to showcase Wales’ excellence in medical education and research. Bringing the conference to Europe for the first time has allowed us to share ideas and innovations with colleagues worldwide, while giving delegates a true taste of Wales and Cardiff’s culture and hospitality.”

The event was also a testament to the strength of Cardiff’s Conference Ambassador Programme, with the lead organiser, a Cardiff Conference Ambassador, working closely with the Meet in Cardiff team to secure and deliver the conference.

Head of Business Events at Meet in Cardiff, Faye Tanner said: “We are delighted to have supported CLIC 2025, a truly global gathering of medical education leaders. It is fantastic to see Cardiff recognised on the international stage as a place where collaboration, innovation and learning thrive. Hosting the first European CLIC conference highlights Cardiff’s ability to deliver world-class events while offering delegates a warm Welsh welcome.”
