St Fagans National History Museum underwent a major investment in its exhibitions areas in recent years which culminated in the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2019.
The museum offers a range of unique and very different spaces on one site which are available for business events. It is home to over 40 historical buildings, moved stone by stone from different parts of Wales and now relocated to the extensive parkland around the museum. They tell the story of how Welsh people lived through the ages. Some historical buildings offer event space such as a former 1920s dance hall – the Oakdale Working Men’s Institute offers flexible space comprising a Reading Room, Meeting Room and Concert Hall with a sprung floor for dancing and a stage for entertainment. There also smaller spaces such as the Committee Room which is a light, purpose-built room suitable for up to 20 delegates.
The site comprises of 100 acres of countryside outside Cardiff city centre and within the grounds is St Fagans Castle, a late 16th century manor house donated by the Earl of Plymouth. It is furnsihed with rich tapestries, embroidered furniture, opulent rose-wood and oak furniture and wonderful oil paintings. The exhibition areas also offer spaces for events; receptions, dinners and meetings.
There are also formal gardens; the Italian Garden and Edwardian Rosery for example which offer a setting for a reception.
