#MeetCardiffCapitalRegion is exhibiting at Meetings Show 2016 as part of a coordinated approach with nine partners and under the Wales banner.#MeetCardiffCapitalRegion encompasses the cosmopolitan cities of Cardiff and Newport and the accessible countryside and coast on its doorstep. The region offers a tremendous variety of urban and rural venues supported by attractions and activities suitable for ‘out of conference activity’. The region does not just offer the traditional, historic and purpose built venues but also the quirky and contemporary.
#MeetCardiffCapitalRegion’s nine partners on the Meetings Show stand H300 illustrate this variety and distinctiveness.
Cardiff is a capital city with a reputation for successful events but also brimming with vibrancy. Motorpoint Arena, a multi-purpose arena with 4070 m2 under one roof in the city centre and suitable for exhibitions, large meetings with break out rooms.
Cardiff Castle is a city landmark with impressive meeting and banqueting rooms, used by NATO leaders when they attended the 2014 Summit. The Castle is part of the Cardiff Collection along with The Mansion House, a venue for small meetings and private dining for up 50 and the impressive City Hall, which is one of the city’s largest traditional meeting venues.
Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama is housed in a stunning contemporary building with light open spaces for receptions and private dining, auditoria and meeting rooms.
Providing a solid accommodation base, just under 5000 bedrooms are available from 23 trusted global brands under the umbrella of Cardiff Hoteliers Association.
The city of Newport is 25 minutes’ drive with good academic and public venues, a stadium, the prestigious Celtic Manor Resort and by a range of hotels with meeting facilities. A corporate event in Newport can be combined with Monmouthshire’s The natural environment encompasses mountains, rivers and lush countryside providing the perfect backdrop for out of conference activities including team building. It also has a choice of country venues, many with a reputation for good food.
The Vale of Glamorgan
Close to Cardiff can be found the Vale Resort, a well established country venue with excellent sporting facilities with a meeting capacity of 700 theatre style, 500 banqueting style and 143 bedrooms. Its sister property on the same site, Hensol Castle, is a beautifully restored Grade I building with gothic turrets and sweeping staircases. It can accommodate a meeting for up to 308 theatre style with back projection and a dinner dance for 240. Both properties offer a range of team building activities.
St Fagans Natural History Museum, Cardiff offers meeting facilities but also an authentic experience for an out of conference activity. Its sister museum National Museum Cardiff is an excellent venue for corporate entertaining, with an auditorium and meeting space.
Visitors can watch the Euro 2016 matches taking place during the show in the Football Lounge (G220), sponsored by Wales in partnership with Cardiff, hosts of the UEFA Champions League Final in 2017
